As someone who has never lived in an English speaking country, there have been many words (e.g. "albeit") that I read dozens of times before eventually hearing them spoken years later.
There are plenty of English words that are never spoken. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "sycophant" for example.

I don't listen to audio books so this is a challenge for narrators that I hadn't thought about. Some authors will average one "menagerie", "hegemony", "chimera", etc every other page.
