Freedom fries? 
Historically, renaming things has not been a good sign. It usually falls on a continuum from bogus (liberty sausages) to totalitarian (Kampuchea). Though one end of this continuum is comparatively harmless, there is nothing good on it. Productive people have other things to do.

Even worse: When I studied russian we had an old Soviet encyclopedia in our library, along with some extra pages that came with instructions like "Replace page X with this page". Typically the new page had removed a person that was no longer a true revolutionary.

Same was done across the board in my home country - Bulgaria. Communists changed names of roads, neighborhoods, towns. Books were burned and pages changed. They try really hard to erase history.
