Startups live and die based on trust. If I can trust my teammates are giving their 100%, I don’t need to second guess giving my whole effort. The moment I feel like someone is politicking or positioning, the startup phase is over and I need to protect myself.

Having a mission so epic and exciting the mission does the recruiting, selling and motivating for you. All you have to do is hold it together and execute.

*Crucially* > [A] mission so epic and exciting ... does the recruiting, selling and motivating for you. is false. It's an accelerant to at least two of those things, but you still have to put in the work.
