How much of startup success is normal people willing to have a not-normal life? As opposed to not-normal people doing 9-5? Bit of both?

What is required of founders for success? Long sprints of productivity due to total devotion vs the intuition, experience and smartness. Can startups succeed without either? Having kids changes this formula, I think. /cc

Long hours and not having a life may be required for founders and people with significant equity but the heart of the matter is it becoming company/industry culture and employees having no choice but to do that as well, for a salary.
