If I were one of those super rich dudes (say, the kind with business interests on the west coast...) I would immediately invest billions into forest management. You could create tons of jobs and have an almost immediate impact on the wildfire problem. People would love you!
It might be a good thing to do, but people wouldn't love you. Every controversy would yield opportunities for linkbait articles attacking you.
Also forest management probably requires less intervention than more. Hard to spend money not doing things.
