I'll never understand the amount of people who never had to actually live through communism and won't listen to the ones who did.

I think this is the primary reason, People vote for Trump. They want a fair society. The Left wants a racist society (like in early USA) where color of your skin decides your future. Left wants indoctrination and communism where as right wants Liberty and Freedom.

Where is the fairness in flatly denying that racism exists in subtle ways and should be dealt with where it exists? What indoctrination stops your heart from opening to that possibility?

Yes, this quote sums up this editorial - an n=1 argument from Sergui Klainerman, a white man, that since he was able to succeed at @Princeton, racism therefore does not exist now at Princeton. 1/x

In the course of his argument which he claims to be in the pursuit of "academic excellence", his arguments include mind reading of his colleagues. 2/x

someone who applied for a passport to a communist government, got it, and officially traveled is not a 'refugee'. Immigrant, maybe

That is a big maybe. We don't know if he left before or after the revolution. Not all people left the communists countries with a passport. Actually just a few, even after the revolution.
