Your graph implies a causal relationship between these two lines. But surely the reason the share of income going to the top 10% plunged in 1942 was the US entry into WW II. So are you implying that increased union membership caused the US entry into WW II?

Really? You think the reason Zuck is so rich is that unions are weak? I think the reasons are (a) that companies can grow faster than they used to and (b) they cost less to start, so founders can retain a greater percentage of stock.

there have been other wars since wwii (albeit none associated with as big a ramp up of industrial prod), is there a corresponding dip in the top 10% share during those other wars?

Also corporations in America have free use of the infrastructure that makes America paid and built by the working and middle classs

I think it should be obvious that at least one reason why Zuck (and people like him)are so disgustingly rich is because their workers don't have the ability to collectively bargain for higher wages and better working conditions, which means that Zuck can keep more profit.

Also if unions don't matter why do companies spend time and money crushing unions? 🤔

Software shouldn't be blamed for wealth disparity. Better to look at traditional sectors like education, manufacturing, etc for historical guidance on the why.

We must rule that a decrease in worker bargaining power is not related to a decrease in worker earnings. There's probably another reason that doesn't make me, a rich person, look bad.

If unions were stronger you wouldn't be able to get by with exploitative labor practices like you see at Uber, Mcdonalds, Walmart and more. It doesn't matter that the barrier to entry is lower, its that owner's barriers to scaling without having to fight unions is now lower.

No, @paulg. Zuckerberg's degree of wealth is due to monopoly power in a rigged system. He'd be wealthy regardless, but he bought up most of his competition, reducing employment options. Employees have to deal with him. Start up costs are sunk costs after the first profits.
