Here's the graph from Brian's email. There was still no growth as of late 2008. In January 2009 there was a spike, due I think to Obama's inauguration, after which the numbers returned to normal. So this email may represent the point at which growth started.pic.twitter.com/HxSAPp1KDC

It takes a long time to learn that sugarcoating bad news is worse that the bad news itself. No matter how many times you’re told otherwise, it’s just so unnatural. It took me over *15 years* to understand this and I’m still working on it.
