Do any other 1980s children remember never, ever drinking water?
It happened in the 70s too. Why drink water when there was some very cheap form of water with sugar in it available?

I liked Tang just like the astronauts but my Mom though that was unhealthy. So we had Koolaid and Countrytime Lemonaid mix instead. :)
