Cabs in DC were terrible before uber. Got ripped off and no-showed so many times.https://twitter.com/AdamSinger/status/1296503330001367040 …

Boston no-show cabs made me start using concierge transport for my airport and other important trips: the price is the same and given in advance, they are always on time, the car is safer and nicer.

I lived near a hotel in SF, and would walk over through the hotel and then pop out the front door into the taxi queue. Once guy absolutely reamed me when he learned I was only going 6 blocks.

When you want to Uber to the airport in Paris the driver stalls you pretending to be undergoing a police control giving you the choice to cancel and request another one. You walk over with your luggage to where they are standing, no police and no driver.

5 mins later the brillant fees algo has raise the price nearly 40% and the same ass is answering your request. Ended up taking a cab. Was straight-up cheaper and great experience

Same. Except I deducted from the tip if they claimed their credit card machine "wasn't working today". Funny how those machines all started working right around when Uber came to town.

Kind of the opposite of NYC where they’d avoid anyone with a suitcase during peak in town travel hours
