If you are CEO of a venture-backed startup, where would you move your company to outside of CA?

i guess it's cause you moved YC to CA from Boston?
We didn't move it. The first 3 years we were in both places. We'd migrate every 6 months. We just stopped migrating when we had our first child. If we hadn't had kids, YC might still be in both places.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Curious, what would have been the benefit of the rotation? Obviously, rent. But at the time, what was the thesis? Also, thoughts on starting a co. in Canada?

If there was a thesis, it was that being on both coasts gave YC a "national" presence. Really though it was because we loved Cambridge and didn't want to abandon it completely.
