I have read about this for a couple of times, and I think these guys have also done a podcast on this paper based test. But why aren't these are bein used yet ?? It it because if it's low accuracy ? Or have they failed some scientific test ? Or Government is just being stupid ??

Sounds plausible, but how sensitive is this to people refusing to test? And/or what can be done to encourage people to test as well as to respect privacy and other rights? (I'm feeling dismal and misanthropic tonight)

Did SV pass on funding Theranos because mass market testing is too hard or because of the team?

Or because it was a Ponzi scheme?

Tests with (relatively) low sensitivity and (relatively) high number of false positive/negative results come with risks that need to be acknowledged and addressed. The ideas referred in the article fail to do that. And no, one does not simply "strip away all of that complexity”.

Yes, that would be epic, but incentives need to be there. Like, do a test at home, get 2 dollars. Instead of charging a dollar to government, charge 3 dollars. It will come to around 1200 per year per person. If it works, the costs will be way less.

Somewhere in the vicinity of 100B, not out of the question, but will take a long long time to ramp production that level i'd imagine.
