I’m not a native speaker and I struggle to get put many of my ideas in writing. For me it would be useful to have a “helper AI”. Wouldn’t hide the fact that I used such a service.

I didn’t see it as an attack.
Like you, I do see potential issues with such a technology too, but I also think it could genuinely help a lot of people.
For immigrants or non native speakers, writing a simple letter to some institution can be challenge. -
I wasn’t born in Germany (where I now live) and often when I need to write something in German, I first write it in my native language, translate it with Google Translate and then edit it.
