the thing about luck is it goes to people who don’t deserve it just as often as it goes to people who do.
This is true if you take the set of people that luck can effect as given, but in practice it isn't. In practice some people, by taking risks, put themselves in a position where luck can strike them.

I agree working hard, taking risking greatly increase your chances of succeeding. Yet if I look at my personal story, I know lot of people who are doing much worse than me for no fault of theirs ( with same or better abilities).
