In my experience the threat isn't being banned, it's being drowned out by noise or junk, or outrageous statements that shift people's attention

We really need to tone down this, "enemies" talk. They aren't enemies of those people. At worst they are people who hold different ideas. And if a group is suppressing ideas, then, as always, it lies with the people who work with ideas to push change.

The problem isn't sides. It's when one side is so certain of their views being The One Right Way that they suppress, silence and criminalize the opposition. Maybe people as a whole are too keen on "seeing people punished", even just for "having the wrong opinion".
