Counterintuitive as it sounds, I'm always encouraged when I publish a new essay and get showered with insults. Showered = lots of people saw it, and insults = there were no big mistakes in it for them to refute.

The really scary thing to receive after publishing a new essay is the polite email whose subject line includes e.g. "statistical error."

The politeness is a great tell because it means they WANT you to read their actual response

Loved the latest essay. I've already adopted it into my lexicon.

Looks like there is a positive correlation between the strength of evidence and politeness in pointing it out..?

On average, the deeper people's knowledge of a topic, the more calmly they talk about it.

“Fail forward”. People seem to think we in our industry believe we’re perfect and flawless, but the reality is we are far from, but that we are not afraid to fail, and that is what defines our success.

Just don't let the incentives of it lead you way from making concretely disprovable claims... it's easy to have no statistical errors if there are no statistics 😅

Most of your essays look at concepts and ideas rather than statistically-backed conclusions I felt. What kind of statistical errors could someone point out.

Making mistakes in public is the inevitable price of talking in public. After it happens (not before), I think of it as an opportunity to show off my incredible reasonableness by changing my mind in public.
