The fastest I ever got better at programming was when I read Dave Moon's comments on an early version of On Lisp. It was like a thought review.

Do you still have the old version and his comments?
Probably in storage somewhere. But I am not eager to remind myself or anyone else how l little I understood Lisp when I started writing that book.

I'd feel the same, but I think both the content and the example of "this expert of today was once less so" would be pretty inspiring to exactly the sort of person you would want to reach. And likewise the example of a powerful person showing their progression.
