Agreed. Though I’d quibble with describing it as orthodox, which is generous (and perhaps is a nod to your politeness point). Fashionable is the word I’d use. Conveys superficiality and malleability.

I don’t think “intentional moderate” captures scenarios where convention isn’t moderate. Orthodox as a synonym for conventional works well.

I disagree. E.g. "It's not enough to be colour blind, you need to be actively anti-racist" is fashionable but not orthodox.
