Sort of true. But in many societies, most people will acquiesce to it if they're given the right combination of carrot and stick, and it doesn't take many people to supply that.

All totalitarian governments are bad, but have a more of a threat of Marxism with the radical left than we do Facism. It’s odd seeing the left transform into something they said they despised. Marxism has a horrendous human rights records.

Yes, absolutely. And the constitutional right to free speech does not mean that people will exercise it. Americans are far more susceptible to social pressures than they tend to think.
