They aren’t fired for nothing, Paul - the point is that for every person that gets let go for an unthinking remark, there are five people who didn’t get a chance to ever be in their position because they didn’t know the right people, were the wrong gender, or had the wrong skin.

People who are easy to fire cannot be powerful by definition. Ergo: getting people fired is almost always punching down, not up.
