Academia doesn't mean undergrads. I assume the person Steven is quoting is someone in a PhD program at least. And it wouldn't be anything so retro as Marxism.
So someone dropped out of Stanford’s History PhD program cuz they couldn’t abide by intersectional theory? I fantasize scenarios because I think these anecdotes are ghosts, and if you actually met these people, you would be startled by the ideology of your newfound allies.
I personally know two individuals who left their programs because of the ideology. Both are quite liberal atheists who couldn't get on board with the idea that the color of someone's skin matters more than the content of their character or the quality of their work.
