If you woke up tomorrow as @jack and could do anything you wanted with Twitter - products, features, biz model, acquisitions, go wild! - what would you do? (Note: Don’t say edit button, you’re more creative than that)

I'd try to make Twitter less toxic. For example, I'd study how Twitter mobs form and add measures to slow them down. I'd spend a lot of time thinking about ways to make more money to compensate for the decreased engagement. (The root of the toxicity is chasing engagement.)

Brilliant... Those words should be tattooed on the forehead of every geek in Silicon Valley: "THE ROOT OF THE TOXICITY IS CHASING ENGAGEMENT"

This is one of projects we did at our research lab. Find hateful content, detect their communities, ban their content. Not so difficult with some good ML models

I'm old enough to remember how Internet newsgroups were driven to the ground by trolls. Suffice to say that newsgroups were not worried about engagement or even revenue. Give people a venue to speak without facing consequences of any kind and you'll get the same toxicity.
