Part of teaching one's kids to think for themselves is teaching them that they can't express all their opinions openly except to trusted friends. This is not just a feature of our time. It's been true at every point in history.

I think listening more and waiting to share good ideas instead of feeling like you need to weigh in on everything is great. Just hate to see a school kid learning to CYA like a lawyer. Only thing I've seen under 18s held to account for later are sexual assaults, not ideas.

Yes, and people often dismiss as "just a joke" or "just making a point" Instead, take responsibly. Understand the weight or don't say it. Dont "play around" w/ views that have serious consequences for others. Don't carry water for bad actors / arguments or boost propaganda.
