A lot of debates that sell themselves as being about free speech are actually about power. And there's *a lot* of power in being able to claim, and hold, the mantle of free speech defender.

It's curious, though, that cancel culture never seems to actually stop any of its so-called victims from speaking, while those self-proclaimed victims use their massive platforms to ask for cancel culture to be silenced.

Thanks for treating my views with respect. I don't agree with you - I think there isn't a discussion at this abstract level - either we're talking about things that are unnacceptable even to do/say about a pedophile, or we have to get into specifics.

If it's rape threats or death threats or stalking, then no-one should face that. If it's "lots of people disagree with you on twitter" then that's life. In between, it depends on the seriousness of what caused it. There are things people should be sacked for.
