I've heard several people say that cancel culture isn't censorship, because people who get cancelled aren't prevented from speaking. This is technically correct, but only technically.

Isn't French revolution considered a net positive in hindsight? Produced many ideas that we still celebrate. I find it interesting because usually comparisons are made to Russia, communist states, Nazi Germany etc which ended badly.
