I think a useful framing for this debate, or at least more useful than the current one, is that it's about the rules of the democratic game.

As opposed to free speech? I think that would be right. I had quite the astonishing encounters with ppl that seem to be unconcerned with basic liberal/democratic principles, kind of reminiscent of notions of successor ideology.
