Yes true in terms of wanting to silence the other side, which is typically always wrong. The difference is the fundamental ideology causing the silencing, and the fact that today's (marxist) ideology is NOT the same and MUCH more dangerous, as history has shown.

I think it's even more recent. Government wordplay like "The Patriot Act" and "Operation Iraqi Freedom" has now been replaced with critical-theory analogs like "anti-fascism" and "anti-racism." It should be embarrassing for those who openly use "argument by branding" in public.
