I’m not accusing anyone of anything here. But the way to support free speech is to defend your ideas or those of people you agree with. It’s not to attempt to insulate people with bad ideas from criticism through an empty concept like “cancel culture”

When people are being cancelled, it's generally not for their actual ideas, but due to some idea being falsely attributed to them by deliberately misrepresenting something they said. So if you defend their actual ideas, you and the would-be cancellers are talking past each other.
