One of the most miraculous things about our tech infrastructure is the degree to which it depends on open source software. We mostly take this for granted, but a time traveller from 1975 would be very surprised by it.

@Wikipedia. Access to and protection of all humanity’s core knowledge of the entire universe effectively depends on a few thousand random ass anonymous volunteers.
Yes. A friend who works at Google told me that Wikipedia is the single most valuable source of information online, at least as measured by its contribution to successful search results.
