Unfortunately many early-stage investors try to get their way by bullying founders into taking their startup on a direction there are not comfortable with. It sometimes ends up being an uphill battle which is equally as bad.
I adjust the amount of advice I give depending on how much the founders seem to want. Though if they're heading for a cliff I will sometimes throw an exception and tell them so, whether they want to hear it or not.

Yeah but the problem is that a lot of investors refuse to spend the time to actually understand the start-up's industry or eco-system and so they lay out all sorts of plans and advice that is uninformed. They think they are saving us from the cliff but they are driving us into it
