Sometimes I wonder what the percentage likelihood is that my kids will walk on another planet someday. I’m increasingly confident it’s not zero.

Whatever is the biggest change over the next few centuries, it will be something that would be very hard to predict now. I can list things I *hope* it might be, like stopping destroying the planet, and understanding how the body works. But in predicting, hope is error.

Agreed, we should do our best to distinguish hopes vs predictions. I guess I'm curious what hopes you have for ways that the lives of Austen's children or grandchildren could be much better than Austen's own.

One thing I *hope* it might be in the next few centuries is adopting completely lab grown clean meat and we stop killing Trillions of animals for food annually so we help save non-human animals, human animals, and our planet.
