The world paid much too little attention to COVID-19, then briefly too much, then somehow it got politicized, and then again not enough. Is there anything to learn from this for future societal risks?

In many countries Covid-19 seems to have been fairly apolitical, and in some cases almost entirely apolitical. Australia formed a national unity cabinet In some ways this is a nitpick, but it suggests that a lot of countries already know how to avoid part of this set of issues.

Only the GOP has politicized it, let’s be clear. They just call the apolitical, scientific response “radical liberalism” or “socialism.”
