I hope I'm right, but I don't expect the NYT article on Scott Alexander to be a hit piece. It's revealing that so many worry it will be, though. Few would have 10 years ago. But it's a more dangerous time for ideas now than 10 years ago, and the NYT is also less to be trusted.

Free speech needs to extend to the workplace. Some say democracy does too. I mean, long ago we stopped accepting kings and dictators in government. But people seem to accept them just fine in the place they spend most of their time.

It gets even more perverse the deeper you go. If you have a wage, you are paid after the work is done, typically 2 weeks. The employer is the debtor and the worker is the creditor.. Yet the creditor must do what the debtor tells them. It's a strange idea.
