I hope I'm right, but I don't expect the NYT article on Scott Alexander to be a hit piece. It's revealing that so many worry it will be, though. Few would have 10 years ago. But it's a more dangerous time for ideas now than 10 years ago, and the NYT is also less to be trusted.

I'm working on something for this. I think that we need a new medium for ideas. The written word is not adequate enough and is too assailable. If an idea itself could be abstracted away from the person, via technology, then ideas could fight each other instead of people fighting

You can try to be creative but the answer is that you need true inclusive leadership (not just at governments but at NGOs, media, businesses). And people need to understand inclusive means including people you politically and philosophically disagree with.

Paul I don’t understand - the idea, if it’s good, will outlive the person. And the person, if deemed unjust or distasteful, recieved the modern equivalent of the scarlet letter. So I think you are really against the scarlet letter which makes sense.

But to deem the time as dangerous of ideas ... it’s actually pretty safe for ideas on another POV. There are so many bad ones out there
