Everyone thinks the media is ok until they interact with them. They don’t give a shit about anything except driving eyeballs. The first few times reporters wrote about me were incredibly eye opening.

Police should be incentived by NPS: would you recommend? To have an NPS you must have victims. No victims no crime (few if any exceptions). Ironically media is a harder problem to solve. Is Scott Alexander a victim? Maybe he should be. Some day privacy > free speech.

Interesting point. Coppers and journos both effectively get to decide who is the victim or villain, who is blameworthy enough for society to take notice, and who should be raised/lowered in status accordingly.
