It has helped me a lot. And not just in the sense of making it safe to say things. It makes me feel an obligation to say things that others probably also believe, but couldn't safely say.

I've noticed in myself that my eccentricity and ability to say what I think grows with my personal wealth. It's a terrible realization that you limit your own thoughts and speech on your livelihood, and that its weaponized against you.

it goes the other way too, though: if you psyche yourself into saying the eccentric stuff you really think, you open up the possibility of personal wealth and livelihood that *can't* be weaponised against you. their primary weapon is fear.
