It won't take five years, but the burning of books will become acceptable (again), including, for example, the works of Aristotle. And the intellectual class, to the extent to which it is not directly complicit, will on the whole be supine. (Courage was never its strong suit.)
Something short of actual burning is already happening piecemeal to new books, which now have to pass censors (though that is not of course what they're called) before being published.
