Sometimes the strongest founders are the most nervous about fundraising. I find it strange cause I don’t think the most attractive people are nervous about finding a date. Although I’ve never been a very attractive person so maybe I’m wrong...

In the happy cases that lead to being overprepared or building too much, but still getting to market. In most cases it leads to self-doubt and abandonment because "I can't ever be as good as those founders" even if you are

Weirdly many if not most attractive people harbor major self-doubts as well. The capriciousness of the world cuts all people down to size quite efficiently

Sometimes the customer they are very good at listening to and attract is very far from the investor's personal profile/style and it's very difficult to change your brain to be able to attract both.

This is probably highly correlated with age, no? Anyone over the age of 30 who has been working in their industry for close to a decade will have plenty of points of feedback about where they stand relative to their average peer.

I think another thing is that a great founder is often tapping into something that is counterintuitive. If you’re inventing the next AirBnB you might be a genius but people won’t recognise that until after your success

In my experience is one of those things where investing ecosystem is so opaque that when you know you have really high standards it’s difficult to ensure investors meet those really high standards.
