8 yo fell down the stairs and broke his thumb. Jessica, who was a goalkeeper in high school, knew immediately that it was broken. Who knew that would be a useful parenting skill?

Everything's ok now. Turned out 8 yo had always wanted an x-ray. He'd been disappointed by boring dental x-rays. So he was excited to go to the hospital, and now he has a satisfyingly large bandaged thumb and gets to have all the candy and TV he wants.
