I am very worried for the (astro)physics communities. Very few have signed the petition to defend Hsu and Freedom of Inquiry. Yet, thousands of them signed a far Left statement led by folks who want to pervert the Scientific Method and challenge Meritocracy.

Everything is coming to a point. So we have a sorting equilibrium of A) people who think the first thing is political questions and B) people who think the old-fashioned mission of the group is the first thing. It's sad in a way, but it allows the creation of new institutions.
