Many people I know who plan to travel this summer plan to stay in Airbnbs rather than hotels, to make social distancing easier. I never imagined this would be one of the benefits of Airbnb, but having more options makes the world more robust in the face of unexpected events.

I feel all the hand washing, cleaning and disinfecting are definitely worthwhile and instilling good practice through ritual. But they're also part psychological placebo.

That’s true- for hotels, the common areas like elevator and lobby are unavoidable and filled with people, who have traveled through airports and at least some not wearing masks

I'd take an airbnb that hasn't been occupied for a spell, but I'd bet on the hotel hvac for a room that has.
