There are lots of ways for people to talk though. Twitter in its current form is not necessarily the canonical successor to the printing press. For example, quote-tweeting contributes a lot to the badness of Twitter, and that was a choice they might easily not have made.
It's very common for the first version of some technology to be broken. E.g. the initial design of the de Havilland Comet. But network effects mean the first version persists for a long time. So for all we know, we're flying on planes that blow up, and treating it as normal.
It's also common for people to see the first version of a technology in the analog of the last and to learn to see it and use it in new ways....

Other manufacturers learned from Comet's flaws and created relatively safer planes. I feel odds of that happening with Twitter are very low. Twitter making improvements to address issues is a more likely and better outcome.
