If there was just one thing that would help me as an “old” user of video game consoles, it would be that they should keep themselves up to date so I can start playing anytime. My god I can’t tell you how often by the time I’m updated, I am out of time to play.pic.twitter.com/c6hW3k5wzw

Most software trains the user not to click on "update." One exception is Chrome, whose updates are always fast and painless.

I am not sure if Chrome's update are always "painless" the last update removed all the extensions that I had installed which was a major setback for me.

Updating chrome vs updating a system OS are very different levels of size/complexity - that being said I think it would be cool if Xbox/Windows updated automatically in its “sleeping” state... video games are even more of an issue. I had to update call of duty and it took 4 hours

PS4 has the worst combination of UI - forcing you to always run updates, but never downloading the mandatory updates in the background to save you time.

I really wish you didn’t need to reset your computer for most updates—in a world of tabs and docs that are never quite finished, I’m always afraid to do it and lose something

most software should update when you close out... seems such an easy way to address it... (and not when you open it!!)

I'm a reasonably sophisticated user and prefer to give almost any software that asks for updates a month or so before attempting it. This is bad because some security patches are urgent, but I can rarely tell in advance whether the update is only for security purposes.
