Very interesting. This holds in the same way for the UK. Polarisation is breaking these countries. You know where this doesn’t hold as much? Germany. It’s disproportionately successful economically, politically and scientifically speaking (relative to its size). Why?

I dare say because they reckoned with their past and learned from it. Growing up in Germany, we critically reflected on and discussed WW2 at length in school. It taught us a lot of important things, most importantly humility.

They lost their mind 40 years ago. On the wrong side of of the biggest issues in my lifetime. Immigration, climate change, war on drugs, gerrymandering, gay rights, investing in research, making government "small enough to drown in a bathtub" Maybe they are right on housing?
