@paulg I love your essays and I'm curious why you refer to them as such rather than blog posts? Do you consider essays more formal even considering your advice of "write like you talk"?

Because when I started writing them a blog still meant a weblog, at least to me, and a log is a journal, in the sense that no entry takes more than a day to write.
Incidentally, in all these years you're the first person to ask this. Lots of people have mocked it, but no one asked about it.
