@paulg I love your essays and I'm curious why you refer to them as such rather than blog posts? Do you consider essays more formal even considering your advice of "write like you talk"?

Because when I started writing them a blog still meant a weblog, at least to me, and a log is a journal, in the sense that no entry takes more than a day to write.

We also had to submit our essays online at university using “turn it in” to check for plagiarism etc. Hence I think it’s quite normal to read essays online. Especially your essays.
