One that is still very much in progress is SpaceX developing reusable rockets. This brings the cost of access to space down by an order of magnitude and opens up a ton of new possibilities. The future is exciting.

Prometheus does carbon capture and conversion more efficiently (at room temperature using solar- & wind-sourced electricity) to produce fuel that is cheaper than fossil fuels—they’re on the right track and I hope they succeed. No time to wait for everyone to buy an electric car.
From what I'm learning these days... "Hard to implement" is where all the good stuff is at.

"Removing X from the atmosphere and reusing it" hasn't been a worthwhile technical proposition. Just check all the "water from air" and "electricity from static" hoaxes over the centuries and even ongoing scams. Unless one has solved for entropy, in which case petrol is a copout
