Bad policing also has an R0 though. The effects aren't limited to direct deaths. When police misconduct sends an innocent person to jail, that causes a cascade of consequences (e.g. kids growing up without their father) which ultimately lead to a lot more deaths.

True. But it’s hard to get the comparison fair, cause for an infectious disease the R0 also only captures the first level of infections and just as with bad policing there are also cascades that follow after that (including other infections and kids growing up without a father).

it's a really bad idea to encourage more protests. even if the chances are low. Given a large enough N. Some people WILL get it and transmit it.
