You can measure the level of intolerance in a society by whether you can say that there are things that are true, but that you can't say. Every society I know of has had them. When the fact that yours has them becomes one of them, you've reached level 2.

Every time you bring up taboos, someone tries to guess what you think are the wrong ones

Gotcha culture. Bunch of bored wastes of oxygen hover on the edges of their seats hoping to catch someone more successful than themselves (which is most of humanity) in a Wrongthink.

Interestingly, many of those who want to censor & suppress tend to do so because they don’t think about this issue in general. They just want 2 suppress the particular cases they see as bad, & don’t appreciate the bigger (especially longer-term) picture of encouraging censorship

If there’s nothing you think is true but fear to say, then that thoroughly undermines your original premise. I think probably you just believe something that you know is heinous and are trying to externalize your inner conflict.
-
The conflict rarely lies internally for someone who is self actualized. Sure you might struggle for a little bit with the duality. But externalizing it to the world for a reaction is risky, specifically for high visibility individuals and investors.
