Having to do everything remotely for a while will teach us exactly what we were getting from doing them in person. (The answer could in some cases be "nothing.")

You mean that a VC-funded company should not be required to be in SV?
YC has funded lots of companies that aren't in SV, or even in the US.

Oh, you mean why do companies normally have to move to SV during the batch? Partly that you really need the high-bandwidth conversations you can have in person, and partly that it helps the startups to be around other startups.
